Resources & On-Demand Courses

Insight Timer

You can find a range of different ACT practices, meditations, and relaxations on Ali’s Insight Timer page here.  The app is free to download, and there is a lot of content (both Ali’s and from other teachers from across the world) that you can access for free.  There is also a ‘Premium’ paid for option which unlocks more features and more content.

You Tube Channel

Some of the free content Ali has produced for Insight Timer, has also been converted into videos for our YouTube Channel, which can be accessed here.

Books

There are loads of self-help books out there, and sometimes it can be overwhelming to choose, so here are a few of our favourite recommendations.  The links provided will take you straight to Amazon – but don’t forget you can probably order them through your local, independent bookshop!

The Happiness Trap, by Russ Harris: This is one of our all time favourites and the one that Ali recommends to people most often (especially if they have undertaken 1:1 talking therapy).  It’s a great self-help guide, based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Finding Peace in a Frantic World: This is a great practical guide to learning the basic skills of mindfulness.  It’s easy to read, with lots of practical exercises, and guides you through an 8 week ‘course’ so you can gradually build up you understanding and skills.

Self-Compassion, by Kristin Neff: Self-compassion often ends up an important focus of 1:1 therapy work, so many of us fall into patterns of self-criticism.  This book is a practical guide on how to overcome this and cultivate a new habit of self-compassion.

On-Demand Courses:

We have plans to develop some on-demand online courses, such as in introduction to mindfulness, introduction to self-compassion, and living a more meaningful life – so watch this space and out social media accounts for updates.
