Welcome to the first Wise Minded Newsletter. The aim is to publish this regularly as a way to keep you all up to date with upcoming classes and events, news in the world of yoga and mindfulness, and hopefully provide some practical tips which you’ll find useful. So here goes…
Dates for your Diary
Wednesday 20th July: The last YogaTots class of this term. I know some schools will already have broken up for the summer holidays, so older siblings are also welcome to come and join us. – and remember additional siblings are just £2.
Saturday 13th August & 3rd September: Yoga at Colne Valley Garden Centre 1:30-3:30pm, as part of the weekly DanzStarz class. This is a free class suitable for children aged approx 3+, and you can drop in and stay as long as you want. The class will include yoga postures and movements to music, games, a story, craft activity, plus an introduction to breathing and relaxation.
Wednesday 10th & 17th August: I’m filling in for Kathy at the garden centre 10-10:30 – free kids yoga class.
Some interesting recent stories from the world of yoga and mindfulness…
The popular online mindfulness meditation website and app Headspace have just launched their new kids meditation series. Meditations are grouped by age, with meditations for toddlers through to pre-teens. Read more about it here. Or you can subscribe via the Headspace website.
Some yoga teachers will go to any lengths to get people through the door – this one is bribing people with a Gin & Tonic after class. I think it could catch on! Read more about this ‘YinB4Gin’ class in Manchester.
And this article in the Telegraph just goes to show there is a style of Yoga and a Yoga Teacher to suit everyone…so forget all yoga stereotypes!
