Welcome to September’s Newsletter. As the summer holidays come to an end (which have flown by!), I’m gearing up to resume classes here at Wise Minded.
Dates for your Diary
Wednesday 7th September: YogaTots is back! This is a preschool class suitable for children from about 2 years old. The class includes yoga postures and movements to music, games and an introduction to mindful breathing and relaxation. The class runs from 9:45 til 10:45, at Active Bodies in Milnsbridge, and costs just £4 per child (£2 for additional children in the group) and includes a snack and drink for the children afterwards. And if you are planning to come regularly you can get your 6th class free with our loyalty card.
Saturday 10th September: Yoga at Colne Valley Garden Centre 1:30-3:30pm, as part of the weekly DanzStarz class. This is a free class suitable for children aged approx 3+, and you can drop in and stay as long as you want. The class will include yoga postures and movements to music, games, a story, craft activity, plus an introduction to breathing and relaxation.
Some interesting recent stories from the world of yoga and mindfulness from over the summer…
If you want to boost your immune system, and reduce your stress levels then taking up meditation may be more effective than taking a holiday, according new research from a group of researchers from the University of California and Harvard.
Practical Tip: Mindfulness in the office
From my days of working in the NHS I’ve long been a strong advocate of employee wellbeing – so here are some tips for taking mindfulness into the office, from Mindful Magazine. Don’t worry you wont need to sit in the middle of a shared office space in lotus position on your meditation cushion while all your colleagues give you strange looks!
If you are interested in a free taster session of either children’s yoga or adult mindfulness, for your community group or business, then please get in touch as I have some availability.
